Local Area Guide

Wetherby is an attractive Market Town, situated on the main A1M on the banks of the river Wharfe approximately 12 miles from Leeds, 12 miles from York and 8 miles from Harrogate.

With a Charter going back to 1240, a Historical Trail conducts visitors around the town centre and gives a fascinating insight into Wetherby's past. Leaflets on the Trail are available in shops and the Library. Historic buildings are marked by blue plaques along the Trail.

Visitors will find peaceful riverside walks and picnic areas and a free car park by the riverside Bandstand. The town centre is full of interesting small shops selling a wide variety of goods There are also many tea/coffee shops bars and restaurants, a Morrisons supermarket and Marks and Spencer Simply Food. Days out to the Yorkshire Dales, the North Yorkshire Moors and the East Coast are easily arranged from Wetherby.

Accommodation in Wetherby includes a number of Bed & Breakfast establishments and a large Hotel. 

The surrounding area is picturesque with a number of very sought after villages including Linton and Sicklinghall. Larger villages with excellent amenities include Collingham and Boston Spa with its’ Georgian origins.
